Just finished reading Cormac McCarthy’s “The Road“. I highly recommend it… it is haunting, harrowing, bleak and hopeless and yet beautiful and touching all at the same time. Probably the best novel I’ve read in the last 10 years at least.

the war economy

Naomi Klein’s book the shock doctrine is in my “to read” pile, but I thought this article was in the same vein and well written. The only solution, of course, is for America to ditch the war economy. Likely? Not yet… but sooner or later it will be a necessity for survival. I don’t expect the profiteers to go quietly.

Always encouraging to see this kind of thinking from the top military bureaucrats. It’s amazing to me how something so disgusting becomes the topic of calculated analysis and rationalization. I think we should be pre-emptive in cutting their balls off for suggesting it.
